Frequency Characteristics of Fast and Slow Waves in the Cochlea: A Finite Element Analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aim of this study was to predict the characteristics of two types of cochlear pressure waves, so-called fast and slow waves, which are generated by vibration of the stapes. A two-dimensional finite-element model of the organ of Corti, including the fluid-structure interaction with the surrounding lymph fluid, was constructed. Using this model, the magnitude and phase of the fast and slow waves were predicted so as to match the numerically obtained pressure distribution in the scala tympani with that of the intracochlear pressure measurement [1]. As a result, it was found that the magnitude of the fast wave increases as a function of frequency, and that of the slow wave grows gradually to the point of resonance (characteristic frequency: CF) with increasing frequency, then falls sharply.

In this paper, the structure of SAW has been studied. In previous work in SAW, materials such as lithium niobium, lithium tantalite and gallium nitride were used in the structure of SAW, and thus had a low operating frequency and the highest reported operating frequency was about 4 GHz. In this paper, aluminum nitride and gallium nitride in the SAW structure are used in combination. The electro...

Slow magneto-acoustic waves are often observed in polar plumes and active region fan loops. The observed periodicities of these waves are in the range of 1- 40 minutes. Mainly, the ratio of damping time to the oscillation period is less than 2 (equal to the ratio damping length to the wave length), which corresponds to the strong damping regime. In general, slow magneto-acoustic waves can be da...
متن کاملSpectrally formulated finite element for vibration analysis of an Euler-Bernoulli beam on Pasternak foundation
In this article, vibration analysis of an Euler-Bernoulli beam resting on a Pasternak-type foundation is studied. The governing equation is solved by using a spectral finite element model (SFEM). The solution involves calculating wave and time responses of the beam. The Fast Fourier Transform function is used for temporal discretization of the governing partial differential equation into a se...
